Women’s Lunch Place Boston Pad Donation 2025

Written by Anthony Kim

On August 15th, the MyTwoCents members took a trip to Boston for a very meaningful initiative! We visited the Women’s Lunch Place, a welcoming day shelter that provides food, support, and services for women experiencing homelessness or poverty. This time, instead of focusing on selling at a booth, we brought the results of our fundraising directly to the community. With the funds we had raised over the past few months, we were able to donate thousands of reusable menstrual pads to the shelter.

The visit was incredibly eye-opening. Not only did we get to see the shelter’s work up close, but we also had the chance to meet staff members who shared stories about how vital these supplies are for the women they serve. For many of them, access to menstrual products is often overlooked but deeply necessary—and being able to provide this support made our mission feel even more impactful.

Our group reflected on how powerful it is to see our fundraising efforts turn into real change. Each pad donated means one less barrier for women already facing difficult circumstances, and knowing that we could play a part in that felt humbling and inspiring.

Through this trip, we learned the importance of connecting directly with the people and organizations we aim to help. Instead of only talking about our mission, we got to see it in action. The experience reaffirmed why we started Pads4Change and strengthened our commitment to keep growing this initiative.

We left Boston with a renewed sense of purpose and gratitude—for the Women’s Lunch Place, for the communities we hope to serve, and for the opportunity to contribute in a tangible way. This is only the beginning, and we’re excited to keep pushing our mission forward!
